Have ready:
1/4 cup borax
1/2 cup washing soda (sodium carbonate = Na2CO3). Sold with soap. Also sold as "pH Up" for swimming pools, or make your own by cooking baking soda (sodium bicarbonate = NaHCO3) in the oven at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes.
1/2 bar of soap grated into curls
2 1/2 gallon bucket with 1 1/2 gallons (= 192 ounces) of very warm water
2 1/2 cups (=20 ounces) of simmering water
A long-handled stirring spoon
PROCEDURE:
Stir the grated soap into the simmering water. Smash it up. Add it into the 2 1/2 gallon bucket of very warm water. Stir in the washing soda for 1 minute. Scrape the bottom. Stir in the borax for 1 minute. Let it sit for 24 hours. Bottle. Use 1 cup per load.
